Brief: Lowe's is coming

Final details have been settled for the anchor store in a large commercial area along Milwaukee Avenue in Vernon Hills. The village board Tuesday approved to changes in the site, landscaping and building design for the garden center portion of a Lowe's home improvement center. Because the village does not allow the sale of plant materials outside, the company will expand a portion of its garden center by 18 feet. Developers of the 170,000-square-foot project expect to break ground early next month. Lowe's would be the anchors of a 36-acre commercial area west of Milwaukee and south of Gregg's Parkway.
