Briefs:Dist. 220 dates in place
The Barrington Area Unit District 220 school board Tuesday approved meeting dates for its committees for the rest of the year. The finance committee will meet Sept. 24, Oct. 9, Nov. 13 and Dec. 11. The policy committee scheduled meetings for Thursday, Oct. 4, Nov. 8 and Dec. 6. The newly created enrollment monitoring committee will meet Sept. 11 and 25, Oct. 9, 23 and 30, Nov. 13 and 27 and Dec. 11. Finally, the facilities committee approved a partial meeting schedule. Meetings will be held once a week for the next month. Dates include Friday, Monday, Sept. 17 and 28. For a list of meeting times and locations, visit the district's Web site at www.cusd220.org.

Want to get your best antique appraised by an expert? The Rolling Meadows Historical Museum is having an appraisal event noon-4 p.m. Sept. 9 at the museum, 3100 Central Road. Maine Twp. garage sale
Maine Township is hosting its annual community garage sale and craft fair, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 29, in the parking lot of Maine Township headquarters, 1700 Ballard Road, Park Ridge. Proceeds will benefit the Maine Township Adventure Camp for disadvantaged youth and emergency food pantry. For $20 you can reserve a space for either the garage sale or craft fair. Dist. 102 has cash raffle
The Aptakisic Tripp Elementary District 102 PTO will hold a $10,000 cash extravaganza to benefit technology in the schools. Those who attend the PTO's Party in the Park, 4:30-8 p.m. Friday at Meridian Middle School, can buy a raffle ticket for $100. The 300 tickets will be entered to win three cash prizes of $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000. Tickets can also be purchased by calling the PTO at (847) 353-5590, ext. 690. The drawing will be held Nov. 2 at the Holiday Boutique at Meridian.
Raise a glass to Long Grove
The Long Grove Wine and Dine event is noon to 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, with a sampling of more than 80 wines. Live entertainment is scheduled for both days. The $20 per person fee includes sampling in the wine tent and a souvenir Long Grove logo wine glass.
