Cary lowers blade on acceptable grass heights
Last week, the Cary Village Board voted to amend the village's municipal code, reducing the maximum allowable height of grass and weeds to 8 inches. The new 8-inch maximum height rule is effective immediately.
"The reduced grass and weed height is designed to improve the aesthetic value in the village of Cary," according to Mayor Steve Lamal.
Previously, grass, weeds, etc. were permitted to grow up to 12 inches. The new height restriction of 8 inches will allow village staff to address problems before they become severe," said Bob Nowak, building, planning and zoning director.
The revised ordinance specifically limits the height of grass and weeds, other than trees, bushes, flowers or other ornamental plants, to be no taller than 8 inches.
