• Ariana Carbone of Elk Grove Village, a sophomore education/English major, was honored recently for academic achievement during Monmouth College's annual Honors Convocation. The sophomore education/English major was awarded the Kate Spencer memorial scholarship. She is the daughter of Serena Carbone, Elk Grove Village, and John Carbone, Hoffman Estates.

• Holly Trotter, daughter of Andrew and Jane Trotter of Elk Grove Village, was honored recently for academic achievement during Monmouth College's annual Honors Convocation. The senior math/Spanish major received the Paul Cramer prize for outstanding work in mathematics.

• Amanda Wenzel, daughter of Peter and Nancy Wenzel of Elk Grove Village, was honored recently for academic achievement during Monmouth College's annual Honors Convocation. The freshman Spanish major was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta, a freshman honorary society for students earning a 3.5 GPA during their first academic year.

• Antonella Magnelli, daughter of Oreste and Franca Magnelli of Mount Prospect, was honored recently for academic achievement during Monmouth College's annual Honors Convocation. The senior biochemistry/chemistry major was nominated for the honors program. A final selection was made at the end of the spring semester.

• Brian Kura, son of Deborah Kura of Park Ridge, was honored recently for academic achievement during Monmouth College's annual Honors Convocation. The senior physical education major received the physical education department award and was recognized as a member of Sigma Omicron Mu, an upperclass scholastic fraternity for students who maintain a 3.615 GPA or higher.

• Russell Paloian of Rosemont was named to the dean's list for 2007 spring semester at Winona State University in Minnesota for achieving a minimum grade point average of 3.5.

• Anthony Salerno of Mount Prospect was named to the dean's list for 2007 spring semester at Winona State University in Minnesota for achieving a minimum grade point average of 3.5.

• Katie Robillard, daughter of Tom and Pat Robillard of Mount Prospect, was named to the fall 2006 and spring 2007 dean's list at The University of Illinois, Urbana/Champaign. Robillard achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average for both semesters. The 2006 graduate of Wheeling High School is in the honors program majoring in political science and psychology.

• Niti G. Patel, daughter of Girish and Chandrprabha Patel of Mount Prospect, was named to the spring 2007 dean's list with high honors at St. Louis College of Pharmacy in Missouri. To receive this distinction, students must earn at least a 3.75 grade point average for the semester. Patel is a 2005 graduate of Hersey High School.

• Amandine Perry of Mount Prospect was named to the dean's list for the 2006-07 spring quarter at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio.

• Kelly Snodgrass, a senior at Hersey High School, was awarded an International Engineering Scholarship from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The award includes a $1,000 scholarship, help with round trip airfare to any study destination worldwide, and $3,000 per semester for one or two semester abroad. She plans to major in physics this fall in the university's College of Engineering.
