Accident closes Schaumburg Road

All lanes of Schaumburg Road were closed between Knollwood Drive and Barrington Road after two cars collided in Schaumburg a little before 4 p.m. Friday.

The road closure was expected to last up to three hours, authorities said.

The driver of one car was trapped and had to be extricated by the Schaumburg fire department, police said. The person was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

There were three occupants in the second car. One was taken to the hospital with a minor injury.

The Schaumburg Police Department Traffic Crash Investigation Team is on the scene at Pembroke Lane.
