Police: man urinated in businesses' mail slots
A 20-year-old Schaumburg man must appear in court next month on charges that he defaced mail slots of local businesses with urine and dog feces.
Peter Alexander Corbett of 818 Salem Drive has been charged with disorderly conduct and battery, police said.
Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said that over the last six months, someone had been urinating and shoving dog excrement into mail slots at several businesses in a shopping center on the 1400 block of Schaumburg Road.
One of the business owners installed a security camera that showed a young man police believe is Corbett urinating into the mail slot, Nebl said.
On July 16, Nebl said, the business owner saw Corbett in the shopping center parking lot and confronted him.
Police said Corbett then kicked the 47-year-old business owner in the leg and took off running.
Through their investigation, Nebl said police learned Corbett was a regular patron at one of the businesses in the shopping center, though police don't know the motivation behind the alleged crimes.
Based on that information, Nebl said police were able to track down Corbett and take him into custody.
He was released on $1,000 bond with a Sept. 12 court date.
