Woman assaulted outside Schaumburg apartment

Schaumburg police say a man assaulted a local woman as she entered her apartment.

According to reports, the woman was returning home to the 1700 block of Maple Place about 10:30 p.m. Monday when she was approached in the building's vestibule.

The man, police said, followed the woman to her apartment on the second floor.

When she stopped to unlock the door, the man ran up behind her and briefly grabbed and groped her.

The man then ran down the hall and, when he got to the stairwell, turned back, grunted at the woman and blew her a kiss, police said. He then ran from the building.

The woman was not injured, according to police.

The man was described as being about 20 to 23 years old and about 5 feet, 7 inches tall with a thin build and thin moustache. He was last seen wearing dark baggy jeans and black jacket with yellow trim on the hood.
