Travel Softball Tryouts: Girls ages 9 to 16 are invited to come tryout for the 2008 Travel Softball Season. Four teams will be formed (pending interest and ability): 10-and-Under, 12-U, 14-U and 16-U. Teams will play during late spring and summer of 2008. Girls participating on high school teams will begin once their high school season has ended. All tryouts will be held at the Aquatic Softball Field in Central Park, west of Center Street and Route 83 in downtown Grayslake. Tryouts will be Saturday at the following times:

•10-U: 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

•12-U: 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

•14-U: 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

•16-U: 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Warren Wave tryouts: The Warren Wave will hold tryouts for the 2007-2008 season for teams at the 10-U, 12-U, 14-U, 16-U and 18-U levels. This is the first year for 18-U. At the 16-U level the Wave will form an "exposure team" to play in tournaments in front of college scouts. Tryouts are on the following days.

•Aug. 25: 10-U, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.; 12-U, noon to 2 p.m.; 14-U, 10 a.m. to noon; 16-U, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.; 18-U, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

•Aug. 26: Callbacks, special looks, special appointment

Swimming

CATS Aquatics Swim Club: The CATS Aquatics Swim Club will hold tryouts for new swimmers from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 27 at pool at Vernon Hills High School, 145 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills. Registration for all swimmers will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Libertyville High School, 708 W. Park Ave., Libertyville, outside the pool area.
