Pharmaceutical firm starts safety measure

SCHAUMBURG - APP Pharmaceuticals, sole supplier of heparin sodium vials to the U.S. market, launched a new safety initiative on the APP Web site - "Working Together for Patient Safety." This first phase of the program captures APP's efforts to ensure a safe supply of heparin for thousands of patients-from safety and quality measures in the manufacturing process, to helping prevent medical errors in hospitals with cap, label and bar code enhancements.
