At least one injured in Schaumburg accident on Higgins

Police are still investigating an accident that took place early Friday morning at Higgins Road in Schaumburg.

At least one person was injured in the accident that took place just after 6 a.m., Sgt. John Nebl of the Schaumburg Police Department.

He said a car swerved into a pole at the intersection, and that slick road conditions due to the cold weather is expected to play a role in the accident.

One unidentified person was extracted from the car and transported to nearby St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates with non-life threatening injuries, he said.

Police closed westbound Higgins while the accident is tended to, while eastbound Higgins was reduced to one lane.

No citations have been issued in the accident, police said.
