Worrell back on Bears' roster

Safety Cameron Worrell, a former Bear, was added to the 53-man roster to replace Mike Brown.

Worrell spent four seasons with the Bears after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2003. He appeared in 43 games and had 45 special-teams tackles, 20 defensive stops, 2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. In 2006, he tied a single-season team record with 28 special-teams tackles.

In 2007, Worrell signed with the Dolphins as an unrestricted free agent. He played in 12 games and started seven times for Miami with 50 tackles and 6 special-teams stops. He was released by the Dolphins in the preseason and signed with the Jets but was placed on injured reserve Aug. 30 with a shoulder injury.

With the season nearly over, Worrell wasn't expecting to get a chance to play in the NFL until next season.

"I was working out on Tuesday, and I really wasn't looking to get signed (by) the end of the year," he said. "I had a little shoulder surgery in August, and I was just getting back in shape, and I got a call, got on a flight Wednesday, got in Wednesday night and I was here at practice on Friday. It's been crazy."

Because he knows the Bears' schemes so well, Worrell said he's confident he could step in and play either safety position Sunday, in addition to special teams.

Injury update: Cornerback Charles Tillman was listed as probable after a full practice Friday. Fullback Jason McKie was limited at practice and listed as questionable. Linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer (ankle), running back Kevin Jones (hamstring) and cornerback Marcus Hamilton (ankle) did not practice, were listed as doubtful and are not expected to play Sunday.
