Watch Democrat double-dippers, too

I found Jake Griffin's article, "New DuPage County Leaders Ready to Dig In" (Dec. 2) very interesting, especially the quote by newly elected county board member Rita Gonzalez, in which she alleges that "she will have to take personal and vacation time from her job with the Illinois Secretary of State's office to attend most board meetings." That must be quite a job she has there considering that she will need to take a minimum of 50 days off work just to be a part-time board member. What Jake Griffin failed to ask her is, "Just how many vacation days and personal days do you get to take off each year, Rita"? Funny, too, how she forgot to tell the voters that when elected she planned on keeping two government jobs.

And what ever happened to the media's outrage at any elected official who double dips by holding down two government jobs? I guess their concern about "double dippers" only count if you are a Republican. I certainly hope the reporters who cover the county board keep an eye on any unwarranted time off that Rita Gonzalez gets off from her day job at the Secretary of State. And hopefully the next time they write an article about government elected officials who "double dip" that they include the name Rita Gonzalez.
