Bears release safety Holt
The Chicago Bears elevated defensive end Ervin Baldwin to the active roster from the practice squad and terminated the contract of veteran safety Terrence Holt on Tuesday.
Baldwin, the first of five seventh round selections for the Bears (208th overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft, has spent the last 10 weeks on the Bears practice squad. He was a two-year letterwinner at Michigan State (2006-07) after spending two seasons at Reedley College (2004-05). Starting all 25 games played at defensive end during his Spartan career, Baldwin recorded 93 tackles (40 solos) with 12.5 sacks, 25 tackles for losses and three fumble recoveries at MSU.
Holt had signed with the Bears on Oct. 22 and was inactive for the last two games.
