Briefs: Lanes reopen on 22nd Street
The Illinois Tollway Authority has reopened two lanes in each direction on 22nd Street in Oak Brook under the Reagan Memorial Tollway in time for the start of the holiday shopping season. Storm sewer installation work will continue through the winter in a protected work zone to the north. Work in 2008 included re-decking the Salt Creek Bridge, installation of new storm sewers and work to rebuild the tollway bridge over 22nd Street.
Teen police academy set
Enrollment has begun for Carol Stream's Teen Citizen Police Academy, which runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Jan. 14 to March 18 at the municipal center, 500 N. Gary Ave. Teens 14 to 17 will learn about crime scene processing, DUI enforcement, firearm safety and more. For details, call (630) 871-6215.
Central holds diversity talk
Naperville Central's School Family Community Partnership group is sponsoring a talk about how the green movement is teaching lessons in diversity. Police officers honored
Several Villa Park police officers have been recognized for their efforts to reduce the number of impaired motorists. The Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists recently gave awards to officers Louis Easton, Kevin Conner, Anthony Perkins, Kordell Kitching and James Cihak for DUI arrests. The Illinois Department of Transportation then issued DUI pins and achievement awards to officers Conner, Cihak, Perkins, Kitching and Tod Kubish and William Lyons.
