Petition forms ready for 2 school boards

Nominating petitions, are now available for people interested in seats on the Districts 62 and 59 school boards.

Forms are available on any business day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For District 62, packets may be picked up at the Leon Smaage Administration Center, 777 E. Algonquin Road, Des Plaines. Call (847) 824-1170.

For District 59, forms are available at Community Consolidated School District 59 Administrative Offices, 2123 South Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Call (847) 593-4404.

Petitions must be filed between 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, and 5 p.m., Monday, Jan. 26.

Shining Star bids due this month

The Mount Prospect Special Events Commission is now accepting nominations for the 2009 Shining Star Awards. The deadline for nominations is Nov. 19. Award categories and nomination forms are available at mountprospect.org. The awards will be presented Saturday, Feb. 7.

New U.S. Bank now open

A weeklong grand opening with giveaways, refreshments and prizes began Friday for U.S. Bank, which opened a new seven-day-a-week, full-service office inside Dominick's at 325 E. Palatine Road in Arlington Heights. A promotion is offering $75 in free groceries to people who open a new U.S. Bank free checking account.

Hours are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.
