Roselle firefighter injured in Medinah blaze

A Roselle firefighter was injured early Monday morning while battling a blaze that gutted a house in Medinah.

Crews from Roselle Fire Protection District responded about 2 a.m. to the structure fire at 22W143 Foster Ave. When they arrived, the firefighters discovered the flames had spread from an attached garage to the rest of the house.

At 2:37 a.m., firefighters from several other communities were called to help fight the blaze, which was extinguished about 3:20 a.m.

The firefighter who was injured was treated at the scene and then transported to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. Officials didn't release details on what type of injury the firefighter suffered but said it wasn't life threatening.

No other injuries were reported. The occupants of the home got out safely before firefighters arrived.

The cause of the fire is unknown. Roselle fire officials and members of the DuPage County Arson Task Force are investigating.

No damage estimate was available Monday. However, the house has been deemed uninhabitable, authorities said.
