Hike off that Thanksgiving meal

Come out to Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve on Friday, Nov. 28, and work off some of those Thanksgiving calories!

Join the "Over the River and Through the Woods" hike. They will begin at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of Tekakwitha Woods, 35W076 Villa Marie Road in St. Charles. District naturalists will lead the group through the woods, across the Fox River on the north bridge to the Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve, and loop back.

During the hike, they will be on the lookout for wildlife and learn how the natural world prepares for winter. The walk will last approximately an hour and conclude at the Nature Center. Afterward, everyone is welcome to stay and enjoy the interactive exhibits in the Nature Center.

Winter field trips: Winter is a wonderful time to explore the outdoors with your class. Teachers are welcome to schedule school field trips in Kane County forest preserves. District naturalists lead themed hikes with educational activities for classes at all levels.

Among our winter offerings are "Winter Animal Adaptations" and "Animal Tracks and Signs." School programs may be held at forest preserve locations throughout Kane County and are free of charge for Kane County schools.
