Actor to portray Roosevelt in Huntley

A very special guest will make a "presidential appearance" on Saturday, Nov. 15, in Huntley at a "Tea With Eleanor" luncheon, a celebration of our nation's 32nd first lady, from noon to 2 p.m. at Pinecrest Golf Club.

Chicago actor and historical dramatist R.J. Lindsey will appear as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, sharing lunch and stories about his famous wife and her active dedication to issues of education, civil rights, and working class families.

Hosted each year by the American Association of University Women, Huntley Area Branch, the annual fundraiser honors first lady Eleanor Roosevelt and her work for America's underprivileged.

This year's event includes a Roosevelt-style luncheon buffet similar to those hosted by Eleanor herself during the war years - with soup, salads, sandwiches, fruit, and desserts, plus soft drinks.

Tickets are $28 per person, which include the buffet and a special door prize for each attendee. A cash bar - a nod to F.D.R. - and a silent auction of gift baskets and Roosevelt-era collectibles will also be offered.

The event is open to women and men, ages 12 and older.

Tickets can be reserved in advance and paid for at the door. For reservations or details, call (847) 669-0848 or e-mail huntleyaauw@ameritech.net.

Reservations are recommended; however a limited number of unreserved tickets may be offered for sale at the door on the day of the event.

Due to the busy election campaign, "Tea With Eleanor" has been rescheduled from its prior mid-October date and golf passes, which were previously announced, will no longer be offered.

All profits will support the AAUW Eleanor Roosevelt Foundation Fund for research in equity and education issues, and local public policy programming.
