Kaneland eighth-graders give thanks

Words of thanks from eighth-grade students at Kaneland Middle School.

Thankful

It's Thanksgiving, and time to be thankful. I am thankful for many things, but I will only tell you three very important things that I am thankful for. First of all, I am really thankful for my family. They have always been by my side when I am down, and even up. I am also very thankful for them because they were in a freak accident that almost killed the both of them and thinking of it now I don't know what I would do without them. For my brother and sister, they were the only ones that really knew how I felt the night of my mom and dad's accident. It may sound bad but their accident brought my brother, sister and me very close. I love my family and I am very thankful to have them. The second most important thing that I am thankful for is my friends. I have some pretty great friends. I have only four really great friends and I have only fought with one of them before. I can trust that they will always have my back when I need them the most. My friends are my life. For the third thing on my long list and, also the last that I am going to state, is music. Music to me is like a way to show how you really feel. Music is a way to get you to understand someone else's life and how they live. Now that I shared only the three out of thousands of the things that I am thankful for, what are yours? What are you most thankful for?

Alli

Don't hate, appreciate!

Most teenagers complain about what they want, and try to convince their parents that they need it so badly. Why can't we just be thankful for what we have? Be thankful for the food your parents buy you, even if it isn't your favorite. Some people don't have food at all. Thank your parents for being there for you, because 60 percent of parents don't care for their children. I'm guessing you watch TV? I bet yours has color too. Half of the world has televisions of black and white, or they might not even have one at all. Us teenagers need to learn to appreciate what we have, and make the best of it as we grow old.

What I am Thankful For

The first thing I am thankful for is my family. Without my family I would be nowhere in life. They brought me into the world. They also taught me how to walk and speak. Next, I am thankful for my house. My house brings me warmth and comfort. Finally I am thankful for my friends. One in particular is Anna C. She has helped me through a lot. Next, I am thankful for my girl Amanda. Although I accidentally injured her, she still is one of my best friends. I am thankful for a good friend like her, because she doesn't get mad for dumb reasons. All in all, I am thankful for a lot of things, but those are the most important to me.

Kami

What Are You Thankful For?

What are you thankful for? The first thing I am thankful for is my family. When I am having a bad day they are always there to lift my spirit. Next thing I am thankful for are my friends. Without my friends my life would be boring. They make every day special and unique. The last thing I am thankful for is my house. I am thankful for my house because it is the place that I live and grow. And not everyone has that luxury. Now that I have shared the things I am thankful for, you should share the things you are thankful for as well.

Lauren

They guide me through rough times

Learn to appreciate what you have in life, because others aren't as lucky.

We all have things we are thankful for and although they might be similar to others they mean a lot to me. First, I am thankful for my family and friends. Without them I don't know what I would do. They guide me through rough times and are there when I need them. Second, I am thankful for food and shelter. Not a lot of people think about how lucky they are to be fed, and live under a roof. I am lucky that I get these things. Third, I am thankful for all their rights and freedoms I have as a person. I am free to be my own person and do what I want, and without those freedoms I would not be living a happy life. Overall, there are many more things that I am thankful for, but the biggest things in my life are family and friends, food and shelter, and my freedoms.

Christina

What am I Thankful for?

Have you ever thought about the things you have, and other people don't? Are you truly thankful for them? There are three things that I am truly thankful for. First, I am thankful for my family. I am thankful for my family, because they never gave up of me. They have always supported me, and still love me even though I can be a real "charm." Second, I am thankful for shelter. I am thankful for shelter, because if I didn't have a place to live I would be freezing or extremely hot living outside. My home is very comforting and loving. Finally, I am thankful for my friends. I am thankful for two friends in particular, Kami because she's been the friend that never gave up on me, and she was always there, and Lyndi because she knows every little thing about me, and has always been my friend even in the bad times. Try thinking about what you have and cherish, now try to think about all the people that don't have a family, a home, or friends. I am truly thankful for what I have.

Anna

I Am Thankful

I am thankful for many things in my life. First I am thankful for my parents most of all. They have done everything in my life and supported me. They pay the bills so I can live. Next I am thankful for my family. My family supports me at all of my sporting events. Finally, I am thankful for my education. If I didn't have an education, I would not have a good job. Then I would get no money ever and live in a box. I am very thankful for all of these things in my life and I am very happy that I am a more fortunate person.

Stephen

Friends, family and my dog

I am thankful for many of the things that are in my life. What I am most thankful for is my family. My family is there when no one else is there for me. The people 1 need to see the most every day is my friends. They cheer me up when I am down and sad, and they play games with me when I am bored. Last but not least, I am thankful for my home and my pets. Winter is cold and my house is warm and cozy. My dog acts like a heater by my feet. All of these keep me warm, safe and very happy.

Cullen

My Thanks

There are many things in life that I am thankful for like my family, friends, and a home, but everybody writes about that. Other than those three, I am very thankful for my pets. They would consist of my cats, dogs, and horses. The best thing about all of them is that they don't judge you on what you wear, how you cut your hair or the grade on your test. All they care about is you and I love that quality. Next I appreciate the openness of my church family. They are always there in good times and bad and always will support me in growing in my faith. Lastly I am thankful for modern technology and medicines. Without them many of us, not just me would not still be alive or in a healthy condition. There are many things in life I am thankful for, however these are some things I really couldn't live without.

Erin

Thank you for...

I want, I want, I want That's all you hear people say. Why not say thank you, thank you, thank you? There are so many things to be thankful for, which people take for granted. Things I don't have mean a little, but the things I do have are so much better. One thing that I am thankful for is my family. Not only are they sweet, loving people, but they are here with me, bringing me joy and happiness. Without them, I would be a lonely wreck. Friends are some of the greatest people in a person's life. My definition of a friend: a person who I trust, they are always here for me. The truest friends in my life are exactly like that. I love them to pieces. The last and most important thing that I am thankful for is life. So many people take it for granted that they are alive and well. Every five seconds a person dies, and I am so lucky that I am not one of them. So stop saying, "I want," and start being thankful for what you have. Take a look around, the world is a great place for loving what you have.

What I'm thankful for

Almost everyone has something that they are thankful for, and here are some of the things I consider to be important to me. Out of all the things I could be most thankful for, I chose my family. First of all, my parents are always supportive, kind and nurturing, and always push me in the right direction. Secondly, thankful for my friends. Without them I would be completely lost in a social state and be extremely lonely. They're also easier to talk to sometimes. But lastly, I'm thankful for all the essentials in life. Like food, water, and shelter. Without these I wouldn't even be here. In conclusion, there could be many more things I could be thankful for, but these three are most important.

Graham

Thankful

I believe it's the littlest of things that make us happy. My life has consisted of many good and bad small things, but I will always be thankful for the life I have today because of them. One thing I am greatly grateful for is smiles. Smiles can make me happy in the saddest of days. They make the world an enjoyable and bright place to be. Seeing someone spread a smile across their face makes me feel like the happiest person in the world. Secondly, I am very, very thankful for the food and water provided to humans. Food and water are two essentials that we need to live. Some people may take them for granted, but I know we are truly lucky to have them. Lastly, I am thankful for my family. I love them with my whole heart, and I'm lucky to have one. Sure, my family isn't the best. We fight, we get mad, but in the end, we're still family. We're always there for each other, through thick and thin, we stick together. Of course, this isn't all the things in the world that I could be thankful for. Thanksgiving is a loving time, and some people don't think twice about what giving thanks really is, but it truly is something that shapes our lives forever.

Danke, Gracias, Thanks...

Everybody's got something to be thankful for. First I would have to say my friends. It would be terrible without them; they always make me feel better. They also all have most of the same interests as me. Next would be my family, especially my sisters, they are always there for me no matter what. Third would have to be my parents. They help me through everything, and they are always there, no matter what, and it's the best feeling ever knowing that they are there. Finally, I've got so many things to be thankful for this year.

More than just food

This Thanksgiving there will be more than just food. It will be about everything you are thankful for. I am thankful for my family who is always there for me, good and bad. My family is loving, caring, and happy. They support me in any of my decisions and they drive me to all my activities. Another thing I am thankful for is my friends. I have a lot of fun with them and our memories will last a lifetime. They give me advice to help me and when they do it shows that they care for me. Also, I am thankful for the house in which I live in. I have a house with a roof on top. Some people don't have a house at all. Therefore I am not going to be thinking about how much turkey, stuffing, and pie I am going to have. I am just going to be thankful.

Thanksgiving

There are some things that you need in your life. Here are some that I'm most thankful for -

First, one thing that I'm most thankful for is my family. My family is the one who raised me to be the person I am today. Without them I'd be nothing. Second, another thing I am most thankful for is my friends. My friends are always there for me. I understand them as well as they understand me. Lastly, I am most thankful for my education. There are people in the world who don't know how to read and write. With proper education, I can get a good job, and could be successful. Finally, all of these are things that mean a lot to me. Without them I wouldn't be able to face life's challenges. Therefore, I wouldn't be successful, wouldn't be well-mannered, I'd be nothing.

What I'm thankful for

Everybody has something to be thankful for, from family to food, shelter to friends. Everybody has something they can appreciate and be thankful for. The number one thing that I'm thankful for is family. Without them, I don't know where I'd be. Family is there to teach you, to guide you through life's tough journey, to provide a shoulder to cry on, and to love you. For family, I am thankful. Following family comes friends, who always make me smile. When the going gets tough, friends are there to listen to you talk, no matter how boring it is. Friends are always there to share your craziest moments with you, and for friends, I am thankful. In addition, I am thankful to have a house and shelter. Some people aren't fortunate enough to have a home to sleep in, to shelter them, but I do. I am fortunate to have food in my belly, a warm bed to sleep in, clothes on my back, and a roof over my head. My parents work really hard to keep what we have and I am very appreciative of that. For my home, I am thankful. After all, everyone is thankful for something in their life, and for me, those things aren't hard to find. I love what I have in life, and I am very lucky to have what I do. And lastly, for life, I am thankful.

Danielle

Many blessings

I have many blessings and many things to be thankful for. Here are just a few of them. First of all, I am thankful for is my health, along with the health of my friends, family, and pets. Recently, I have experienced the illness of one of my pets. She is better now but I know how awful it is to see one you love sick. Now I am more thankful than ever for my family's health. Secondly, I am thankful for my church and my church family. The people at my church truly care about me and don't judge me. Going to church is a very important part of my life. Also, I am very thankful for my family, friends, and pets. When I have something going on in my life, they are always there, they never judge me. I am so fortunate to have all of these things and more. I am thankful for all of them.

Kaitlyn

Thankful for more than just the food

I am thankful for a lot of things, but my top three are my family, my friends, and to be in a free country. My family is one of the most important things in my life. They stand up for me and look out for me. I know they're not going to be here forever, but they help me while they're here. I am thankful for my friends because like my family, they help me and encourage me. When my parents aren't around, they are there for me. My friends are easy to talk to and we understand each other. Neither of the first two would be possible if we didn't live in a free world. If we didn't live in a free country, who knows where we would be now and what the world would be like now. That is why I am also very thankful that we live in a free country. Those are three of the things I am thankful for this year and every year.

Alex

What I am thankful for

I am very thankful for a lot of things. These things are some of the most important things in my life. First, I am thankful for my family. They always help me and support me. They always care about me. My friends are another thing that I am thankful for. They are people who I have fun with and relate to. Lastly, I am thankful for our country. I am proud to live in such a free and protected place. All of these things are the most important to me. These things help me, protect me, and care for me.

Gus

Being warm and loved

The first thing that I am most thankful for is my family. My family is there with me through the good and bad times. They protect me from things. They help me with homework when I need help. They do things for me that no one could ever do. The second thing is my house. Without it, I would be freezing at night instead of being warm and cozy in a safe area. My house also protects me from animals, strangers I don't know, and the blazing heat, and the harsh winters. The third and final is food. Without food I could not go on with my life. If there was no food I would be skinny and dying of starvation. So the things I am most thankful for are the things I hold close to me and cannot live without for a single day.

Matt

Thanking season

God has blessed me in my life. I'm very lucky. I'm very thankful for my parents for many different reasons. They are always there for me when I need them, for anything. I'm especially grateful and thankful for my family. Even though they might bug me at times they always support me. Also when I need help they will help me. Finally I'm thankful for my house with a roof over my head. Every morning 1 hear on the news about all of these foreclosures, I'm glad that I have a house over my head. This Thanksgiving and holiday season, I will be thankful for these luxuries and blessings that I have, that God has provided for me.

Elizabeth

A Thankful Life

I am thankful for many things in my life. First my family is very important to me. Without my parents I wouldn't be here in the first place. They gave me life and they bring me happiness. Without it I wouldn't be happy. Second, living in a home is also what I'm thankful for. My house gives me a place to live and be safe from rain, winter, and tornadoes. It gives me a place to eat and sleep which I need. Third, eating is also a thing I'm thankful for. Vegetables, milk, and meat give energy that I need to grow. Food also gives me good health that I need so I could live. In conclusion, these are the things am thankful for. I need all of these to live a happy, healthy, and a safe life.

An appreciation

This Thanksgiving is more special than all before. Due to the fact that love has matured and everyone has grown closer. First, I am thankful for my wonderful family. The reason for this is because they are always in reach to comfort and guide me. My family's love matters most to me. Second, I am very thankful for my loyal friends. My friends will always be close to my heart. Also, I can trust them with anything and everything; which is a key attribute for friends to have. Lastly, I am grateful for music being a part in my life. It has been around my whole life, and I don't know what I'd do without it. Music is one of the biggest things that inspires me and lifts my soul. To sum up, Thanksgiving is a day to appreciate and to be grateful for what you have. That is exactly what I'll be doing this Thanksgiving.

Mike

I am thankful for -

I am extremely thankful for everything I have. I am thankful for my family, my friends and my education. I am thankful for my parents and my family because I know that they will always be there for me. I am also very thankful for my education. I am thankful for my education, because I realize that some kids are not educated, and I am glad I have a plan for my future. I am highly thankful for my house. I am thankful of my house because some people have no shelter at all. Although I am thankful for those three very important goods, I am thankful for other important blessings in my life.

Samantha

I Give Thanks

Many people do not have the things in life that I have and that's why I am giving thanks. First, I am thankful for having such a great family. My family supports me in everything. They show me love and I show them love back. I am thankful for life. I'm thankful for life because I have the ability to wake up every day and having God continually blessing me. Another thing I'm thankful for is having the opportunity to get an education. I know that in some places in the world children are not given the opportunity to get an education and getting an education is needed. You need an education to get an good job and just need to know things and I am grateful for having one. I am thankful for having a roof over my head. Some people in the world struggle to find somewhere to sleep at night and thankfully I don't have to struggle to find somewhere to sleep at night. In conclusion, I like to say that's why I live every day to the fullest and I am always thankful and appreciative.
