Change this cruel property tax system

Now that the legislators in Washington agree to spend billions on a Wall Street bailout, our own representatives in Springfield must work on property tax relief for Illinois homeowners.

I pay $6,000 in property tax on a $200,000 home. This may not seem like much money, but I must save $500 per month to avoid a tax sale.

This $500 per month is more than my electric, gas and water bills combined. It is outrageous that the backbone of the American way (homeownership) may become extinct.

People must move out of their long-term residencies because of ridiculous taxation.

The property owner is viewed as the easiest source to carry the burdens of a bloated government bureaucracy.

Please change this cruel property taxation system.
