Public hearings on transportation set for November
The Kane/Kendall Council of Mayors encourages residents to attend these transportation hearings being held in Kane County this month.
• A Metra 2009 Budget Hearing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, in the city council chamber at Geneva City Hall, 22 S. First St., Geneva. Metra will hold public hearings on its proposed operating and capital program and budget for fiscal year 2009 (Jan. 1, 2009 to Dec. 31, 2009). Any person may present views orally at the hearing, or may submit written material at any time, but no later than 24 hours after the conclusion of the hearings on Wednesday-Thursday, Nov. 5-6, to 547 W. • The Tollway Public Hearing on Congestion-Relief Program Phase Two "Tomorrow's Transportation Today" will be held in Kane County from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Aurora City Hall council chambers, 44 E. Downer Pl., second floor, Aurora.
The Kane/Kendall Council of Mayors encourages residents to attend a meeting to learn more and express their views on the Illinois Tollway's Congestion-Relief Program Phase Two - Tomorrow's Transportation Today - a $1.8 billion capital program that includes a Green Lanes Plan and an Interchange Improvement Program designed to continue to reduce congestion, offer environmental benefits and reduce travel times, particularly during busy commuter rush hours.
Public comments may also be submitted to the Illinois Tollway in writing at the hearing, by mailing them to 2700 Ogden Ave., Downers Grove, IL 60515, or by posting them at illinoistollway.com. Written statements mailed to the Illinois Tollway should be postmarked no later than Wednesday, Nov. 12, or posted on the Illinois Tollway Web site illinoistollway.com no later than Friday, Nov. 14.
• The RTA 2009 Budget Hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the Heritage Ballroom at The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way, Elgin. The RTA is conducting a second round of public hearings throughout the region from Monday, Nov. 10, to Wednesday, Nov. 19. The RTA has scheduled the hearings earlier this year to afford the public the best opportunity for meaningful input. The hearings will cover the region's transit system budget for 2009 and address capital investment needs. Meetings are open to the general public and are ADA accessible.
