Lake Co. burglary suspects plead not guilty
Four suspects in a string of house burglaries throughout Lake County pleaded not guilty Thursday.
Tiffany Driggers, 18, Michael Zentz, 25, Ricardo Gorgas, 22, and Alexis Gorgas, 26 each face mandatory prison sentences of four to 15 years in each burglary for which they are charged.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Ari Fisz said the four, all of 3414 Dixie Ave., Park City, broke into homes between June 29 and Sept. 26.
Zentz is charged in all six burglaries police said occurred in Gurnee, Grayslake, Libertyville and Beach Park. Driggers and Alexis Gorgas are charged in three of the cases, and Ricardo Gorgas is accused of participating in five.
The group is also under investigation for similar activity by police agencies in Cook and McHenry counties, Fisz said.
Jewelry, cash and electronics worth thousands of dollars were stolen in the burglaries, Fisz said, and police believe the profits were spent on drugs.
Police did recover some of the stolen property from the suspects' residence, Fisz said.
All four were arrested Sept. 26 as they attempted to sell stolen property at a pawn shop in unincorporated Lake County, Fisz said.
Driggers is held on $100,000 bond, while the others have $250,000 bonds.
Circuit Judge Fred Foreman scheduled a trial for Dec. 1 and ordered all four to appear in court Nov. 12.
