Oakbrook Terrace clerk post stays elected
Oakbrook Terrace residents will continue to have a say in picking their city clerk.
Voters on Tuesday rejected a question presented by officials to switch from an elected city clerk to an appointed one.
With all 10 precincts reporting, unofficial totals showed 68 percent of voters opposing the measure and 32 percent favoring it.
City Manager Marty Bourke has said the post should be appointed to ensure the full-time job that pays $30,000 annually is filled by someone with "expertise."
