Passport fair held in Vernon Hills

The Vernon Hills Post Office, will host a passport fair from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28. Postal Service sales and service associates will help residents with passport applications, fees and photos. The post office is at 675 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills.

Travelers can apply for either a passport or the new U.S. Passport Card, which can be used to travel by land or sea between the U.S. to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean. The cost is $25 in a separate payment to the U.S. Postal Service and a $75 payment by check or money order for those over 16 ($20 for a passport card), or $60 for those under 16 ($10 for a passport card), to the State Department. Two identical color photos no older than six months. must be submitted with the passport application. Passport photo service will be available at the fair for $15.

Trustee candidate packets available

Candidate packets are available for three openings for library trustee at the Warren-Newport Public Library. There are two vacancies for six-year terms and one for a two-year term in the April 7, 2009, election. The deadline to file nomination papers is Jan. 26.

Library trustees meet monthly to establish policies, approve and monitor the annual library budget, determine the library's service program, keep abreast of library law and standards in the field, and employ the library director. Village hosts 'Shop Libertyville Tour'

The village of Libertyville will host its first Shop Libertyville Tour on Saturday, Nov. 22, throughout downtown Libertyville. Merchants will open their doors to display their offerings, and several stores are running special promotions to celebrate the day. The village and many downtown merchants have teamed up with the Libertyville High School Student Council to offer their storefronts as collection points for nonperishable and monetary donations toward the school's food drive benefiting the Libertyville Township Food Pantry and Maristella.
