Firth, Robin and Sorkin finalize their college plans
How's this for a starting rotation?
Stevenson's baseball team will boast three Division I pitchers in the spring.
All three - Scott Firth, Matt Robin and Brad Sorkin - signed letters of intent Wednesday.
Firth will pitch for Clemson University in Clemson, S.C.; Robin is headed to Ohio University in Athens, Ohio; and Sorkin plans to play at Illinois State University in Normal.
Firth, a 6-foot right-hander, led the Patriots last spring with a 6-3 record in 10 games. The all-North Suburban Conference selection threw 57 innings, giving up 38 hits while striking out 70 and walking 14. His earned run average was 2.21. In 2007, Firth posted a 1.50 ERA, the sixth-lowest single-season mark in school history.
Robin was 4-3 in 10 games with a 2.68 ERA last spring. The 5-10 left-hander pitched 362/3 innings, with 59 strikeouts and 17 walks.
Sorkin had a 1.63 ERA, the best on the team and the ninth-lowest single-season ERA in school history. He finished with a 2-2 record in 6 games, allowing only 8 earned runs in 342/3 innings. The 6-3, 180-pound Sorkin struck out 22 and walked 21 while giving up 16 hits.
