Classical guitarist coming to MCC
The Second Sunday Concert Series at McHenry County College will feature two concerts this month, including classical guitarist Brian Torosian at 3 p.m. Nov. 9 and the MCC Music Department Fall Concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19.
Torosian is an active soloist and chamber musician on guitar, lute and mandolin. In addition to completing doctoral studies at Northwestern University with Anne Waller, Torosian studied with Oscar Ghiglia at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy, where he received honorary diplomas of merit and an honorary scholarship. He has taken numerous master classes with classical guitarists. Torosian serves on the faculty at DePaul University and directs the guitar program of Northeastern Illinois University. In addition to performing on the standard six-string guitar, Torosian also concertizes on replicas of a Baroque guitar, a Terz guitar, and a 10-string guitar.
The Nov. 19 concert will feature performances by the MCC Concert Band, MCC Chorus, and the MCC Jazz Ensemble.
