MCC to feature Chicago Brass in concert
The Second Sunday Concert Series at McHenry County College begins its 2008-2009 season at 3 p.m. on Sunday Oct. 12, featuring Chicago Brass Band Players. The concert will be held in the MCC Conference Center, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
The Chicago Brass Band Players will present a program of brass chamber music called "Six Centuries of Brass." Included will be works for combinations of brass instruments from four to 10 players.
The following Second Sunday and other MCC concerts are free and at 3 p.m. unless otherwise noted: Nov. 9, Brian Torosian, classical guitarist; Nov. 19, MCC Music Department Fall Concert, Wednesday, 7 p.m.) featuring the MCC Performing Ensembles; Dec. 14, Handel's "Messiah" at 4 p.m. at the Raue Center, 26 N. Williams St., Crystal Lake, featuring the MCC Choir and Voices in Harmony. Tickets are available for $18 and $15 by calling (815) 356-9212; Jan. 11, 2009, Cooper, Nelson & Early folk musicians; Feb. 8, Maureen Christine and Michael Bazan, jazz artists; March 8, Winds Off The Lake woodwind quintet; March (date to be announced), St. Patrick's Day Concert featuring Pat Gaughan and L.J. Slavin; April 12, MCC Music Department Spring Concert featuring MCC Concert Band, MCC Choir and MCC Chamber Ensembles; April 22, (Wednesday, 7 p.m.) MCC Spring Jazz Concert; May 3, Sessions Jazz Quartet, May 3 (first Sunday).
