Pirate party at the Bloomingdale library

Bloomingdale Public Library's monthly Library Capers event is becoming more and more popular.

This month, nearly 10 elementary students took part in the Pirate Party, this month's theme.

Kids learned about pirates through games, making maps and listening to pirate stories.

"We'd really like to see it grown," said Tiffany Torbeck, youth services librarian.

The Library Capers even is held every third Thursday of the month from 4:15 to 5 p.m. at the library, 101 Fairfield Way in Bloomingdale.

The next event's themed Spooky Stories and will be Oct. 16.

"I think it exposes (children) to books and resources we have here at the library," Torbeck said.
