Bears add Hass, Broussard to practice squad
The Bears signed WRs Mike Hass and John Broussard to the practice squad Wednesday.
Hass spent the entire 2007 season on the Bears active roster, appearing in one contest (10/21/07 at Philadelphia), and was on Chicago's practice squad in 2006. The Oregon State product entered the NFL in 2006 as a sixth-round draft pick (171st overall) of the New Orleans Saints. He spent the 2006 preseason with the Saints catching four passes for 33 yards. Last preseason with the Bears, Hass had four receptions for 67 yards and one touchdown.
After walking on at Oregon State (2002-05), Hass was named the Fred Biletnikoff Award winner as the nation's top receiver in 2005. He set a school record with 220 catches for 3,924 yards (17.8 ypc) with 20 touchdowns during his collegiate career.
Broussard was originally selected in the seventh round (229th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft by Jacksonville. The San Jose State product has played in eight career NFL contests and caught four passes for 126 yards (31.5 ypc) with one touchdown. Broussard spent two weeks on the New York Giants practice squad this season before having his contract terminated on October 7.
