Three Fires Scouts begin annual popcorn fundraiser
Carmel, butter, cheddar, chocolate and a new trail mix product. Those are just a few of the popcorn flavors and new product the Boy Scouts from Three Fires Council will offer during the annual popcorn sale fundraiser, which continues through Nov. 1. Scouts will be selling these delicious snacks and raising money to support their Scouting program.
This year, the popcorn sale includes a range of products including the famous chocolate covered caramel popcorn and the ever popular cheddar cheese popcorn. They will also continue to offer diacetyl-free microwaveable popcorn and festive holiday tins so there is a product at every price range in time for the holidays.
The popcorn sale fundraiser is a primary source of revenue for the year providing Scouts an opportunity to earn their way and develop life skills of salesmanship and goal setting. The money earned helps Scout families and enables many of the Boy Scouts attend summer camp. Funds also help pay for other needed equipment, special trips and program outings.
For the second year in a row, the Boy Scouts will partner with Trails End in offering consumers an opportunity to purchase $25 worth of popcorn to be distributed to men and women in the military overseas. Last year, through the efforts of thousands of Scouts and their families across the United States, more than 300 tons of Trail's End popcorn was shipped to the men and women serving their country through partnership with SupportOurTroops.org distributing the donated popcorn.
In 2007, the Three Fires Council served over 36,000 youth throughout DuPage, Kane, Kendall, DeKalb, and parts of Will and Cook counties. Its mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
