Flu shots: Lake Forest Hospital will provide flu immunizations while supplies last. The conventional vaccine costs $30; nasal spray and mercury-free vaccines each cost $40. Lake Forest Hospital is not able to bill insurance, but the hospital will bill Medicare. To determine availability of the shots, or to get more information, call Occupational Health at (847) 535-6172. Immunizations will be offered at the following times and places:

• 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays; and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays, Lake Forest Hospital, 660 N. Westmoreland Road., Lake Forest.

• 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, Grayslake Outpatient & Acute Care Center 1475 E. Belvidere Road., Grayslake.

• 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, Gurnee Brookside Medical Building, 36100 N. Brookside Drive, Gurnee.

• 2-5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, Vernon Hills Medical Building, 870 West End Court., Vernon Hills.

• 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, Lindenhurst Medical Building Health & Fitness Center, 3098 Falling Waters Blvd., Lindenhurst.

New Visions program: 1:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, Ela Area Public Library, 275 Mohawk Trail, Lake Zurich. Attendees will learn more about macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy or other vision loss issues. The next topic is "Where Did I Put This?" CareCoach: Lake Forest Hospital's CareCoach mobile health unit offers Lake County residents childhood immunizations and health screenings, including blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and asthma. Fall Fest 5k/10k Race: 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, Heritage Park, next to the Wheeling Park District Community Recreation Center, 333 W. Dundee Road, Wheeling. The 5K walk/run is $20 in advance, $25 on race day. The 10K walk/run costs $25 in advance, $30 on the race day. Race day registration will be accepted from 8-9:45 a.m.

Blood Pressure Testing: 10:30 a.m. to noon, Monday, Oct. 6., County Building, 18 N. County St. Waukegan; and 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, Foss Park District, 1730 Lewis Ave., North Chicago. The Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center will offer blood pressure testing and education for adults at no charge to Lake County residents. For information, call (847) 377-8182.

Immunization Clinics for Children: 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, Harvest Bible Church, 255 Quentin Road, Lake Zurich; and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays; 1-3 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays; 1-6 p.m. Thursdays; and 9-11 a.m. the second Saturday of each month, Lake County Health Department Belvidere Medical Building Annex, 2303 Dodge Avenue, Waukegan. The cost of an immunization is $10, but no one is denied services due to inability to pay. No appointment necessary.
