Wheaton police are investigating a sexual assault reported Sunday night in a residential neighborhood just south of the city's downtown.

The victim told police she was walking in the 700 block of East Elm Street when a man came up behind her and pushed her to the ground about 10:30 p.m. She was treated for her injuries and released from an area hospital, said Wheaton Deputy Police Chief Thomas Meloni.

The suspect was wearing black jogging pants with a white stripe, a blue or green insulated flannel shirt, a black knit head band and a white baseball cap.
