Police train at mall

Schaumburg police officers and members of the Cook County bomb squad conducted a training drill inside Woodfield Shopping Center early Sunday prior to the mall's opening.

The authorities took part in several "critical incident response scenarios," including ones simulating a shooting and a bombing at the mall.

The drill was intended to help police hone their rapid deployment techniques and be better prepared in the case of a real emergency.
