Dungy hopeful about Sanders, Addai
With the Indianapolis Colts heading into a tough part of schedule, coach Tony Dungy is hopeful injured stars Joseph Addai and Bob Sanders can return soon.
Sanders, the 2007 defensive player of the year, could return to practice this week, and Addai lobbied to play in Sunday's 34-14 loss at Green Bay despite an injured hamstring.
Dungy isn't sure how many more games they'll miss.
"It's hard to say," Dungy said when asked about Addai. "He wanted to try and go last week, but we thought maybe, with the extra day (off) this week, it might help him."
As for Sanders, Dungy said: "We're hoping he can get back out there and practice this week. We'll have to see."
Sanders hasn't played since spraining his right ankle in Week 2 against Minnesota.
Pats' Maroney out for season: The New England Patriots put running back Laurence Maroney on injured reserve with a shoulder injury on Monday, ending his season.
Maroney was a first-round draft pick out of Minnesota in 2006, who led the Patriots with 835 yards rushing last season but has struggled this season.
Chiefs' Johnson investigated: Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson is being investigated for allegedly spitting a drink in a woman's face at a nightclub, the fourth time in five years he's been accused of assaulting a woman.
Kansas City police are looking into a report of non-aggravated assault against Johnson for telling a woman that he was going to kill her boyfriend then spitting in her face at Club Blonde on Oct. 10.
The case has been assigned to a detective and will be investigated as resources allow, police spokesman Capt. Rich Lockhart said. Johnson has not been charged.
