See soprano at Crystal Lake church

The Bethany Arts Series presents Rise' Jones, soprano, in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 76 W. Crystal Lake Ave. Crystal Lake.

Jones is a classically trained performer who has presented local, national and international recitals. She holds a doctorate in public policy analysis and works as an evaluation consultant. She is also a co-founder and executive director of Hamilton Wings, a nonprofit organization for Elgin area children that uses the arts as a vehicle for promoting leadership, self-development and academic readiness skills.

Past performances include the following original programs: "Giving Thanks," "A Night of Music," "An Autumn Love Cycle," and "A Celebration of the Black Family." A program featuring the work of women composers, titled "Her Voice," has received excellent reviews. Rise' will be accompanied by Murna Hansemann, a gifted pianist and professional artist, who will also be featured as a soloist on the recital.
