Police urging caution

Carol Stream police are asking residents to take precautions to help prevent burglaries to vehicles. An increase in car burglaries has occurred between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. In many cases a burglar has entered through an unlocked door. Police are asking owners to secure their vehicles and remain cautious about the contents inside. If a burglary has gone unreported or criminal activity is spotted, police urge the public to dial 911 immediately.

Speeding crackdown ends

Carol Stream police finished their final month of a speed enforcement campaign on North Avenue for this grant year. In August, officers issued 139 citations for speeding violations with the average violator speed 17 mph beyond the posted 45 mph limit. In addition, 34 motorists were cited for failing to buckle up and two drivers were arrested for driving without a valid license. During the six-month campaign 916 motorists were cited for speeding. A grant provided by the state funded the crackdown.
