Phone messages we can't make out
While this letter contains no world-shaking political commentary, it does contain what I think might be a reminder that some of us could take to heart.
This morning when I returned home from my daily walk, my answering machine had a message from a woman.
She said that she saw that I have a house for rent. She wanted to know the price together with the number of rooms it has.
Then she left her phone number in a completely garbled manner.
I listened to it at least a dozen times and finally wrote down the number I thought she had said and tried calling it together with another possible variation.
Unfortunately, I never did decipher the proper number to inform the poor woman that she had called a super colossal wrong number and that my house is definitely not for rent.
So somewhere there is a rental house together with woman interested in renting it.
But because she practically swallowed her phone number when she gave it, they may never connect with one another.
