Seat belt safety campaign
The West Chicago Police Department is running a seat belt safety and awareness campaign through Sept. 7. Officers will increase patrols to look for violations related to child restraints, seat belts, speeding and alcohol. The department conducted a similar campaign earlier this summer, the fourth since last October, that resulted in 285 citations being issued for seat belt and child restraint violations. Funds for these efforts are provided by a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
