Congregation Beth Judea: The congregation is selling long-stemmed 18-inch roses from Israel for Rosh Hashana. Cost is $25 per dozen; choice of colors include white, red, pink or yellow. Children's Outreach and Vocational Education walk/run: 6:30 a.m. Sept. 6; Kildeer Countryside School, 3100 Old McHenry Road, Long Grove. The 5K race and 3K walk starts in the historic business district then winds through Long Grove. COVE is a nonprofit organization that serves disadvantaged children in Uganda.
