Briefs: Glenbard driveway restricted
Crews working on Lombard's Main Street project will apply the final layer of pavement to the newly widened Glenbard East High School driveway Saturday, Sept. 6. The affected driveway provides access from Main Street into the school's south parking lot. At least one lane of the driveway should be open at all times, but officials recommend parking on the Wilson Avenue side of the school to avoid this construction work.
Police say tool robber caught
A St. Charles man was charged with felony burglary after police said he stole about $2,000 in construction tools in Bartlett. Tomasz Opalka, 30, of 6N759 Goodrich Ave., is accused of taking the tools from two trucks parked in front of the 1200 block of Humbracht Circle in the Brewster Creek Business Center. The locks on both trucks had been cut. Police said Opalka was found driving in the business park late Wednesday, just before the trucks were found, and that Opalka stole the tools with plans to pawn them. He was transported to DuPage County jail.
