World Class Basketball Association: The World Class Basketball Association is looking for players for the 2008-09 Winter AAU/travel basketball season. Players in fifth-eighth grade, who are serious about the game of basketball and have a desire to play high school basketball in the future, are being sought. FSC Aquatics teams open registration: Open registration is being held for the FSC Aquatics swim, diving and polo team. No tryouts required, all welcome. Girl's Night Out self-defense: 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, Bartlett Community Center. Conant Boys Feeder Basketball program tryouts: Saturday, Sept. 13, Conant High School, Hoffman Estates. Designed for players who live in the Conant High School district and have a desire to play high school basketball in the future. Team at the sixth, seventh and eighth grade levels. Charity softball tournament: 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, Hanover Park Little League fields on Barrington Road, just south of Irving Park Road. Hosted by the Hanover Park Little League to benefit 6-year old Kataryna Lantgen, a tee ballplayer who is fighting leukemia. Entrance fee is $10 per person. Open to men and women over age 18. Soccer Challenge: 2 p.m.; Sunday, Sept. 14th; Olympic Park, 660 N. Ridge Ave., Arlington Heights. The Knights of Columbus, Holy Rosary Council of Arlington Heights, #4483 announces its annual Soccer Challenge, a penalty kick contest. Open to ages 10 through 14. Palatine Boys Feeder Basketball: The Palatine Boys Feeder Basketball Program is conducting tryouts for its newly created fifth and sixth teams for the 2008-2009 season. Tryouts are 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22; Wednesday, Sept. 24 and Monday, Sept. 29 at Palatine High School (North Shelf). Boys should try to attend all three tryouts.
