St. Charles names logo contest winner

The winner of the logo design contest for the 175th anniversary celebration in St. Charles has been decided.

Open to professional graphic designers, marketing professionals, and print professionals in St. Charles, the contest ended on Aug. 15.

The winning design was submitted by Phil Studdard of Flip Designs Studio Inc. It will be unveiled at an awards ceremony to take place during the St. Charles City Council meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The committee formed to organize the events is comprised of members from the city of St. Charles, St. Charles Park District, St. Charles Public Library, St. Charles Heritage Center, St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, Downtown St. Charles Partnership, and the St. Charles Visitors and Convention Bureau. The winning original design will be used for publications and advertising of all anniversary related events.

St. Charles will celebrate its 175th anniversary in 2009. Planning has begun on activities for a variety of events throughout the year to mark this special occasion.
