The media must give us real news

I consider myself someone who pays fairly close attention to politics, but at the same time, I will admit there are a lot of facts that I don't know.

Which brings me to the media, whether it's television or newspapers or talk radio. What I've found it that there is no such thing in this country anymore of fair reporting. In most cases, it's slanted one way or another.

We now are going to be bombarded with TV and radio ads attacking this candidate or the other and how they stand on this issue or that one or on character. Frankly, if what is being said is true, I can deal with it. But what I'm finding are half truths, insinuations or out and out lies.

So here is what I want to tell everyone: Please, do your own homework, get online, do some research and find out if what's being said is true or untrue.

I've listened to conversations and I find it amazing how ignorant people are when they think they know the truth yet all they have done is repeated some talking head from radio or TV.

We must start holding not only politicians feet to the fire for the truth, but all news media outlets as well. Then and only then can Americans make educated decisions.

I want real news, real truths, real investigative reporters. Where have they gone? Why are we not getting news like the recent articles in Business Week about the top businesses not paying income taxes?

Why are we in the dark when it comes to real news? I could really care less about the Lindsay Lohans of the world and who's sleeping with who. Come on people. We have to start demanding more; after all, we're footing the bill.
