Ugandan choir robbed again
Just days after laptops, video equipment and a passport were stolen from their van, an Ugandan children's choir on a U.S. tour was victimized again.
Spare tires were stolen from the vans transporting the SIFA African Children's Choir.
Carrie Harless, the choir's tour director, said the spire tires -- worth about $400 each -- were bolted under the vans when the choir arrived in Chicago last week. Harless said she didn't exactly when the tires were stolen.
The president of Midway Airport Concessions, Timothy Rand, donated $10,000 after seeing a TV report about the theft Sunday of the laptops and video equipment. Harless says the laptops contained photos of the children's families.
On Tuesday, the choir received a $5,000 check from the Steans Family Foundation.
Harless, says the group includes 20 boys and girls raising money for an Ugandan school and orphanage.
