St. Hubert to host student info day

St. Hubert Catholic School will hold a Student Information Day for preschool through eighth grade for the 2008-09 school year from 8-10 a.m. today at the school, 255 Flagstaff Lane, Hoffman Estates.

The Catholic school also continues new student registration for the upcoming school year for preschool, kindergarten, first through sixth grade elementary and seventh and eighth grade junior high from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday at the school office.

Northwest Crushers host U14 tryouts

The 2009 Northwest Crushers U14 Boys Travel Team tryouts will be held from 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 23 at Highpoint Park, 1198 Hermitage Lane, Hoffman Estates. The Crushers play a competitive 50-game schedule in the Mid-Suburban Baseball League. Call coach Ed Korus at (847) 202-1970.

Eye tests discounted for kindergartners

The Palatine Lions Club is working with Palatine Vision and School District 15 to sponsor Kindergarten Eye Clinics beginning immediately.

A new law passed by the Illinois legislature requires that incoming kindergarten students for the 2008-2009 school year receive an eye examination by Oct. 15.

With financial support from the Palatine Lions Club, the Al Hoover Memorial PTA Health Fund and Palatine Vision Center, a reduced eye exam fee of $45 is available to incoming District 15 kindergarten students at Palatine Vision, 251 E. Tiger Sharks early bird registration

The Palatine swim team, the Tiger Sharks, a program of the Palatine Park District, will host early bird registration for the upcoming 2008-09 Short Course Swim season at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Birchwood Recreation Center Gymnasium, 435 Illinois Ave., Palatine. Registrants attending are eligible for a $15 per family discount off the park district registration free.

The Palatine Swim team is a multi-ability level program that offers competitive opportunities, technique development and fun for swimmers ages 6 and older. The team is divided into progressive groups with team coaches making the final determination for group placement and advancement.
