Arlington Heights

• Raymond J. Charon, 69, 15 E. Waverly, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 4:35 p.m. Aug. 2 and charged with felony aggravated driving with license suspended, felony driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, and eluding a police officer after an officer tried to pull him over after he hit a parked 1994 GMC with his 1996 Ford Windstar at Brookwood Drive and Brookwood Court. According to reports, police had him stopped a couple more times, but Charon kept driving away, until he finally stopped in a lot on the 1600 block of North Arlington Heights Road and an officer reached through the open driver's-side window, put the van in park and removed the ignition key. He was admitted to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. His court date is Sept. 12.

• Adam A. Anderson, 35, 1718 N. Northwest Hwy., Arlington Heights, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. Aug. 3 near Wilke Road and the racetrack and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer. Police said an officer directed Anderson and nine other pedestrians across Wilke Road but Anderson stopped in the middle of the street, causing a traffic hazard, and swore and yelled at officers and struggled during the arrest. His court date was set for Aug. 25.

• An ATM machine in the Metra depot at 2121 W. Northwest Hwy. was vandalized between 9 p.m. Aug. 1 and 9:30 a.m. Aug. 2. A damage estimate was not available.

• A dispute between a 20-year-old Mount Prospect driver and a small group of males at Gregory and Dale Avenue around 12:55 a.m. Aug. 4 resulted in someone in the group throwing a large rock that shattered a window on the driver's 2002 Dodge Caravan. Damage was estimated at $250.

• A 2007 Toyota Prius on the 900 block of East Hackberry Drive was vandalized between 2 and 4:30 p.m. Aug. 3. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

• Diana Carranza, 25, 984 Topanga Drive, Palatine, and Antonio Martinez, 40, 769 Bluff City Blvd., Elgin, were arrested around 2:15 p.m. Aug. 2 on Algonquin Road near Golf Road. Carranza was charged with illegal transportation of open alcohol and aggravated driving under the influence; Martinez, a passenger, was charged with possession of open alcohol. Carranza's court date is Sept. 5; a court date for Martinez was not available.

• A motorist left the Mobil gas station, 1880 S. Arlington Heights Road, around 8:30 p.m. Aug. 2 without paying $85 for gas.

Buffalo Grove

• Aren Edward Boz, 18, 3 Buxton Court, Lake Forest, was arrested around 12:15 a.m. Aug. 3 after police said he attacked a 1997 Infiniti on Cedar Court South near Brandywyn with a baseball bat. Police said Boz was with a group of boys who tried to join a graduation party on the 400 block of Cedar Court South but was turned away; a witness reportedly saw him damage the car. His court date is Aug. 18.

Des Plaines

• A 2007 Honda Civic on the 1700 block of Prospect Avenue was vandalized overnight Aug. 3-4. Damage was estimated at $1,500.

• A set of golf clubs and bag were stolen out of the trunk of a 1997 Dodge Stratus on the 1400 block of Sixth Street between 5 p.m. Aug. 2 and 7 a.m. Aug. 3. The clubs were valued at $2,200.

• An apartment on the 600 block of Colonial Lane was burglarized between midnight and 3:20 a.m. Aug. 2, and a TV and laptop computer stolen. There was no sign of forced entry; the theft was valued around at $2,200.

• A plastic table at the Mystic Waters park, 2025 Miner St., was set on fire between 5:30 and 6 a.m. Aug. 2. Firefighters put out the fire; damage was estimated at $300.

• A garage service door at an apartment building on the 600 block of Lyman Avenue was forced open Aug. 1-2 and about $1,667 in tools were stolen; meanwhile, a satellite radio, two cell phones and loose change was stolen out of a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck in the same place.

Mount Prospect

• A home on the 1000 block of Beechwood Drive was ransacked and more than $20,000 worth of money, jewelry, blank checks, rare coins and collectible baseball cards was stolen between 12:30 and 11:40 p.m. Aug. 1. The burglar or burglars broke in by forcing open a basement door.

• A home on the 0-100 block of North Elm Street was broken into July 31-Aug. 1 and about $2,000 in jewelry taken. The intruders forced open the front door to get inside.

• An unlocked Nissan Sentra on the 900 block of South Owen Street was burglarized overnight July 31-Aug. 1 and more than $1,000 of electronics, a GPS unit and a digital camera were taken.

Wheeling

• Juan Luis Gutierrez, 33, 94 E. Dennis Road, Wheeling, was arrested around 11:40 p.m. Aug. 2 at his home and charged with possession of marijuana. His court date is Sept. 2.

• A Wheeling man was scammed out of $5,889 by con artists who wrote him a letter telling him he won second place in a contest. The offenders mailed him prize money in four checks, total value estimated at $40,975; he was instructed to deposit the checks and send $5,889 (the amount of the first check) to a company in Thousand Oaks, Calif., to pay the taxes. He sent the money and realized too late the checks had been written on a closed account.

• Three windows on a vacant home on the 0-100 block of East Jeffrey were broken by rocks between July 18 and Aug. 1. Damage was estimated at $200.

• Someone stole about $1,000 Aug. 2 from an apartment on the 300 block of Inland Drive.

• Sidewalks in Northside Park, 1 Glendale Ave., were vandalized with spray paint Aug. 3. A damage estimate was not available.

• A 1995 Ford Mustang in an apartment lot on the 400 block of Manda Lane was vandalized overnight Aug. 2-3. Damage was estimated at $150.

• A GPS unit and MP3 player were stolen out of an unlocked 1995 Ford Explorer on the 1100 block of Valley Stream Drive between midnight and 8 a.m. July 29. The items were valued at about $550.
