Grossman, Orton both solid in 7-on-7's

BOURBONNAIS - Cornerback Charles Tillman made the toughest catch of the day to steal a Kyle Orton pass in the first 7-on-7 session.

After completing 3 of 6 on his first series, Orton went 6-for-6 in his second segment, including a deep seam route that tight end Greg Olsen caught in stride.

Rex Grossman, working with the second team and against the No. 2 defense, followed a 2-for-4 first possession with a 3-for-4 that included a long dart through traffic that found Mike Hass down the middle.

Orton connected on 10 of 13 in 11-on-11, including an impressive grab by Rashied Davis on a deep crossing route over the middle that appeared overthrown.

Grossman was 8 of 12, with a 58-yard TD down the left sideline to Brandon Rideau, who beat Trumaine McBride's coverage. Grossman also was picked off by linebacker Jamar Williams.

In the two-minute drill, which was scaled down to 90 seconds, Orton went just 1-for-5, but Marty Booker dropped 2 passes. Safety Brandon McGowan knocked the first out of Booker's hands and then broke up the second when he hit Booker just after the ball arrived.

Grossman was 3-for-3 in his 90-second drive, including a pretty sideline route caught by Devin Hester, who deftly touched both feet down before going out of bounds for a long gain. Robbie Gould capped the drive with a 41-yard field goal.
