Library vote expected
Villa Park village trustees are expected to vote Monday night on whether to allow the library district to pursue a $24.9 million new building. Trustees, who are slated to meet at 7:30 p.m. at village hall on Ardmore Avenue, must authorize the library's proposed ballot requests because the library falls under the village's umbrella and the loan would affect the village's borrowing ability. The library wants to ask voters in November for permission to borrow $24.9 million to construct a new 48,000-square-foot facility. It also seeks a rate increase of 8 cents per $100 equalized assessed value to operate the larger building.
