Set in early 20th century New York, Doctorow's unique adaptation of the historical narrative genre describes how three families become entwined with Henry Ford, Emma Goldman, Harry Houdini, Theodore Dreiser, Sigmund Freud, Emiliano Zapata, and other historic figures. Literary Review: The Literary Review Book Club of Des Plaines will present five luncheon/book reviews at noon Fridays, Oct. 10, Nov. 14, Feb. 13, March 13 and May 8 at the Des Plaines Elks Club, 495 Lee St., Des Plaines.
