Register for fall classes at ECC

With the beginning of the fall semester less than a month away, it is not too late to register for credit classes at Elgin Community College.

Registration continues for fall daytime and evening 16-week classes beginning the week of Monday, Aug. 18; 12-week classes beginning the week of Monday, Sept. 15; and eight-week classes beginning the week of Monday, Oct. 13. Early registration is advised to get the best selection of courses and times.

New and continuing ECC students with an ECC identification number can register online at www.elgin.edu/accessecc. Those who prefer to register in person may do so at the Registration Center at the main campus located on the first floor of the Student Resource Center in room 165, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The Registration Center is open from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. The center is also open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays.

The Registration Center, admissions, counseling, financial aid, student accounts, the bookstore and records offices are open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9 and 16. The testing center, for those sitting for ECC placement exams, is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Continuing students may register for any course as long as its prerequisites and/or placement procedures are met and space for effective instruction is available. Students will be expected to provide proof of having met course prerequisites, if documentation is not already on file with the ECC records office. Students with outstanding financial obligations to the college may not be able to register until all bills are settled.

Students attending college for the first time are required to attend new student orientation, where they will meet with a counselor to discuss class selection. Orientation dates are filling quickly and in order to sign up to attend students must complete an application for admission and necessary placement testing. For more information contact the ECC admissions office at (847) 214-7385.

To complete the enrollment process and avoid being dropped from classes, arrangements for payment must be made no later than the next calendar day by 7 p.m. after Monday, Aug. 4.
